Kind words & Comments from Guests (& their Pets)

At Letheringham Water Mill Cottages, there’s nothing we like more than welcoming guests to share our unique corner of Suffolk - apart perhaps from reading the kind words they leave behind them and all about the memories they have taken away!

Here’s just a handful of all those lovely comments from guests - staying with or without four-legged friends - who came, saw and fell in love with all that Letheringham Mill has to offer. You’ll find many more on our facebook page, instagram feed and feedback sections of the Air B&B availability /booking pages for each specific cottage .

wow is the word!

"There are not enough superlatives to describe Letheringham Mill. I can only suggest that you visit."

Don't go to Suffolk and NOT try this place. Absolutely stunning with careful thought for every little thing. Lovely hosts. Will be back."

"This hideaway is absolutely stunning, nestled in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The accommodation is most certainly WOW, incorporating high quality design with internal fixtures and furnishings to match. No expense has been spared here. It is wonderful that the chic accommodation allows dogs who are also well catered for. For those who don't have pets be assured there is no trace that doggies have stayed there unlike some dog friendly venues. The accommodation is kept to a high and immaculate standard. Beautiful."

Bowled over by our dog-friendly-ness

“I just wanted to write to say how totally impressed we were with Letheringham Mill when we stayed the other weekend. I’d heard from friends how amazing it was, but we were just bowled over by how dog-friendly it is. It really did feel as though the dogs were on holiday and we were there with them! My two had a whale of a time with the other dogs who were staying, and of course we were so lucky with the weather so we could enjoy the terrace and the stunning grounds. Poppy, my older dog, spent most of the time in next door’s cottage! It was so lovely to stay somewhere so genuinely dog friendly, we really did feel so relaxed and at home. It’s cost me a fortune in trinkets since we’ve been back as I was so in awe of your doggy ‘decorations’ around the cottage.”

“First ever dog holiday so really didn’t know what to expect. Not disappointed at all – gorgeous setting, fantastic cottage (The Hayloft) and a safe location for our Syd to run free with other dogs in the secure grounds. Can highly recommend Letheringham. Owners spared no expense to provide everything needed for a stress free break, especially in these COVID times. Felt very safe. Will definitely be returning and encouraging others too.”

“We really enjoyed our stay - such comfy beds and all our and Max’s (darling Staffy) needs were catered for. We have never been to such a well equipped, beautifully appointed, dog friendly holiday home before.......been to lots of great ones but Letheringham Mill is in a very superior class if its own. Seeing the swan gliding by from the French windows in the bedroom whilst propped up in bed having a “morning cuppa” was just bliss....thank you so much for creating such a wonderful magical place.”

“Loved this place! The accommodation is superb. The grounds and location next to the river are beautiful! It is very dog friendly - no extra charge for the dogs and treats are left for them. I loved the fact I could leave the doors open and the dogs could roam around safely outside. Highly recommend!”

“What a wonderful place to stay, peaceful and luxurious, the attention to detail was spectacular, such thoughtful touches throughout. Definitely won’t be our last visit, never been anywhere so dog friendly - the pups are exhausted after a wonderful stay full of furry friends and exploring! ”

“Our cockapoo, Jessie, loved her dog box filled with lots of goodies for her too! She spent every evening dozing in there after busy days spent exploring the beautiful Suffolk countryside. She also loved playing with all the dogs staying there as well as the owner’s dogs- Teddy, Amber and Lola. It’s a great place for dogs to play and run free, off lead in a beautiful setting. Thank you for a lovely stay! We will definitely be visiting Letheringham Water Mill again soon!

“We recommend EVERYTHING!! Second visit to this lil’ piece of heaven - every detail is thought of in the decor and its completely ‘all about the dogs’, hoooomans are not ignored though...... the Kingsize bed was just sooooooo comfortable! Ample space for our party of 3 plus woofer Sophie, x2 gorgeous massive almost identical bedrooms,. I’d like to say it’s home from home, but it’s so much more...”

"We spent 3 wonderful nights at The Old Stables in June. The accommodation is way above 5 star every little detail is thought of. It is so great to find high quality cottages that are soooooo dog friendly. Amber and Teddy kept popping round to visit our dog.... The grounds are perfect for dog walks or just sitting relaxing with a book and wine. We cannot recommend highly enough and we will definitely return."

"Truly beautiful even in the rain. Best cottage I have been to. A lot of thought gone in to the property and as a dog owner so nice to have luxury for a change. Usually basic properties with pets. Highly recommended. 5 STARS - better than any 5 star hotel and you don't have to get up for breakfast!!"

"We recently stayed at The Hayloft and cannot wait to return. The accommodation was beautiful, with a lovely decking areas beside the mill street and views to the open countryside. Inside we found everything to be of the highest standard, with many homely touches. This included a well-stocked dog create, which made Beau, our Labrador, feel very welcome. In addition, exploring the well kept gardens and extensive grounds gave us a chance to stretch our legs in the morning and evening."

Enjoying our home-from-home atmosphere & walk suggestions

“Jacqui is a very responsive host and sent through lots of information before arrival. The Woodshed certainly lived up to expectations. It was very clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished with good quality fixtures and fittings and with everything you could need for a real home from home stay. The deck by the river is a real sun trap and Farley loved all the open space which is safe and enclosed. There are folders in the cottage which contain lots of information about the area as well as copies of walks that you can take with you. Jacqui really has thought of everything. We will be back! “

A wheel-y wonderful Experience

“We are just back from a 3 night stay at The Riverside - we couldn't quite believe our eyes when we first got there. It was more amazing than we ever imagined. The water mill feature is incredible and we never tired of the views of the river from almost every window. Our Cavalier, Chester, was greeted daily by the resident doggies and thoroughly enjoyed his stay! We will most definitely be back!”

Blown away from the moment we walked through the door of The Riverside. Bottle of Red Wine, Shortbread & Milk which is a really nice touch. Doggie memorabilia everywhere & two beautiful swans in the back garden, who visited most days. I can’t think of one thing that we needed that wasn’t there. The heating system was top notch and easy to use. Lovely kitchen to work in and loved the hot water tap for hot drinks. The information folders are so in-depth for walking, out & about and a wonderful book on the water mill and how it all started. It really did feel like, home from home. Cats and dogs everywhere which I loved, really sad that I didn’t find this place before i lost my dog last year, he would have loved it. Truly 5* accommodation in beautiful countryside. Can’t wait to come back.”

"We’ve just returned from a long weekend staying in The Riverside- what a fantastic place, we had everything we could need and more and our dogs Archie and Misty were at home straight away. Cannot fault anything about the trip and we loved having The Mill on view in our cottage. Would highly recommend for a short stay - 5*."

…and especially at Christmas-time

Currently staying in the Riverside, complete with illuminated mill wheel gallery in our bedroom! The property has been renovated with great love and attention to detail into an outstandingly comfortable retreat. Everything is done to a very high standard - gorgeous toiletries, wine in the fridge, scented candles, tasteful and quirky decor, spotlessly clean and ( very important in a dark grim winter) twinkly lights! I was wondering if we’d fit in ok ( husband and I and 2 adult daughters), but the sofa bed is large, there’s plenty of living space including a quirky little gallery onto the mill wheel complete with squishy sofas and cosy lighting, perfect for curling up with a book or the Christmas cards… Have previously stayed in the Hayloft and remembered how beautifully that was done so was confident to book again and so very glad we did! This place is just very special. Thank you - you’ve created something extraordinary here.”

amazing wildlife literally on the doorstep

…what a beautiful view down the river, so calming to look at. Wonderful to see Moorhens bobbing about and I was fortunate enough to be visited by a cygnet on Friday morning. Your garden is wonderful too - what a peaceful haven!

fall in love with each and every cottage

“Letheringham Mill is without doubt the best place we have ever stayed in. The bespoke cottages, all different in character are amazing and literally everything has been thought of to cater for your needs. The grounds are lovely and enclosed where your pooch can wander to their hearts content. Fourth time of visiting each time in a different cottage and we will be back as many people do. Highly recommended.” Guest, 2019
